Press Release: SCOM working with
NASA
|
2009 FEB 7 --- Tonality Systems announce SCOM
6.0.1 Update with Reaktor
support, and new NASA Satellite
project.
"SCOM 6.0.1 now includes a template that enables the composer to
playback the results in Reaktor. We know that most composers now work
only with software instruments. While there are many good playback
systems inside different sequencers, the widescale use of Reaktor
deserves its own tie in with SCOM", developer Peter Stone points out.
SCOM 6.0.1 Reaktor template is ready to be used and customized. The
template that sets up Reaktor playback consists of .scom score file,
reaktor .ens file, and a setup file.
"The template files reside in the same folder. This allows SCOM
playback to be patched directly to song-specific synthesizers. Very
easy to adjust, you can modify the score, and change individual
instrument sounds, or groups of sounds. The template also shows how to
receive MIDI input, and can be modified for other styles", Peter
explains.
What is SCOM doing next while the SCOM 6 for the Intel Mac has been
realized?
"We are setting up controls to the sun. It may sound far-fetched, but
it isn't. If you want to start getting some cool ideas for your next
project, point your browser to the sun. We are working with NASA
satellites, where you can monitor earth and sun in realtime. You can
hear just what is really happening around the globe", Peter says.

Meanwhile in the real world, UK opens up UFO archives, NASA has
indicated the threat of a catastrophe caused by sun bursts. This may
have an effect on the world economic system. Remember for the Maya
civilisation the calendar ended in the year 2012. Perhaps the media has
gone crazy?
"The synergy between technology and science, culture and education is
now being regarded as a major factor in economic and political
stability. SCOM is a small but vibrant part of this”, comments
composer and academic Nigel Morgan.
