Does It Run on My System?
SCOM runs on Mac and Windows. On the Intel Mac it uses VMware Fusion
virtual machine with blazing native CPU speed and total integration to
Mac apps like Logic, Sibelius and Garageband (runs on Linux, PPC, OS9,
Atari and Windows 98 cyberpunk hacks as a matter of fact - it was
originally created on IBM 360 Lisp, did you know .. welcome to the core
of real coders).
It is a stand-alone application that generates
MIDI files which you can play back with any
sequencer on the Windows. It works together with sequencers, notation
software, hard
disk editors with MIDI playback, and software synthesizers.
SCOM also has integral playback through iTunes and
WinAmp, which launch the MIDI file automatically after SCOM
compilation.
This feature provides the convenience to test out
quickly the themes, chords and rhythms using General MIDI sound-set,
and maximises the compositional throughput limiting the time spend on
sound-parameter tweaking during composing the piece internal cohesion -
which is the most important aspect of every composition.
How Do I Run SCOM?
First, write your composition in an elegant and efficient
music language. That's easier than you think in SCOM's interactive
music programming environment. Press the Compile button, and in seconds
your score turns into MIDI and sound.
What Tools Does It Has?
SCOM has all the tools you need for writing a symphony, or a
cool club mix, and just about anything in between. The 1000 power-tools
let you transpose, retrograde, invert, mix, analyze, convert, ornament,
filter, shift, scroll, and morph, just to mention few of them. Apply
them to melodies, chords, rhythms, durations, velocities, channels
& program changes, controllers and tempos. Let SCOM handle all the
time-consuming calculations for you.

Can SCOM Handle My Music?
You'll find SCOM boosts your musical ideas from tiny seeds
into
large-scale super-structures. SCOM also deals perfectly with irrational
rhythms and tempo changes, thanks to its Free Resolution Technology.
This is invaluable when writing music for human performers, or scoring
complex electroacoustics.
Can SCOM Help Me Compose?
The web-like HyperHelp gives you
on-line help with a click of
a keyword. With SCOM's menus using a music language has never been
easier. Its generators handle all the hot buzzwords such as "fractals",
"chaos", "fibonacci series", "neural networks", "astronomy" and dozens
of others. SCOM recognises tonality as a fundamental aspect of music,
and gives you access to all scales, chords and tunings found in western
music - and it is fully expandable, of course.
Does It Grow With Me?
SCOM is one of the few music systems that you can truly
customize and extend. Build libraries from MIDI files and create your
own power-tools which can be integrated onto macro menus and HyperHelp.
Care has been taken to enable the working composer to learn the system
quickly but thoroughly. SCOM is basic technology alongside samplers,
sound-modules, sequencers and softsynths.
